The future and you...
(Click Here for the latest Information)
June 16th 2010 brought about the first of many open house meetings as the Deerflat Wildlife Refuge looks to the future. Currently the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is in the process of updating thier Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) for the next 15 years. This plan is to be based a 3 things...1. The original intent of the refuge as set by Teddy Roosevelt in 1909 when he established the Refuge.."It is to be a refuge and breeding grounds for migratory birds and wildlife."2. The 6 priority public uses of the wildlife refuge...Wildlife ViewingWildlife PhotograghyFishingHuntingInterpetationPublic Education3. Public input and ideas combined with the input from other related agencies such as Idaho Fish & Game and The Bureau of Reclamation. This is a great opportunity for all to get involved and help mold the future of this great recreational resource we have. The opportunity to attend an open house at the refuge is going to take place on the following dates....July 28, 2010 12pm to 3pm & 6pm to 9pmAug. 20, 2010 10am to 6pmAug. 21, 2010 10am to 3pm Comment lines are available to call in during the following times .....5pm - 7pm the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each monththrough the 8th of September(208)467-9278 You can also send a letter to:Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge13751 Upper Embankment Rd.Nampa Id. 83686 The method of choice is to e-mail a word document to:deerflat@fws.gov Please visit thier website for additional information...www.fws.gov/deerflat This process will take aproximately 24 monthsto form a CCP and by September 2012 it will be implemented. There will be additional comment and discussion times next spring once the information we provide has been evaluated and a direction has been established.
We have the opportunity to be a part of the solution...
Or we can sit back, do nothing, and live with the results !!!
Please get involved.
